What makes it special

A car-free village you can ski through

Falls Creek is one of Victoria’s largest ski areas and its only true car-free, ski-in/ski-out village. You leave the car at the village edge and many lodges are right on the snow, so you can ski straight to your door — a relaxed, family-friendly feel that regulars love.

It has the widest spread of gentle beginner and intermediate terrain in the state, plus one of Australia’s best cross-country networks across the Bogong High Plains and the Nordic Bowl. The village itself is cosy and walkable, with good lodges, restaurants and a warm après scene.

Who it suits

Families, beginners and intermediates who want plenty of approachable terrain, cross-country skiers, and anyone who values the convenience of stepping from the snow straight into their lodge. As a longer drive, it suits multi-day stays especially well.

How to get there

Your route to Falls Creek

About four and a half hours each way via Mt Beauty — a scenic but committed drive we recommend planning around an early start.

1

Melbourne pickup

We collect you anywhere in metro Melbourne. Given the distance, an early start makes the most of your day or gets you to your lodge in good time.

2

Northeast through the Kiewa Valley

We head up the Hume Freeway and into the Kiewa Valley toward the alpine town of Mt Beauty at the foot of the climb.

3

The alpine climb & chains

From Mt Beauty the road winds up onto the high plains. Your chauffeur fits snow chains where required — it’s included in your fare.

4

Arrive at the village edge

The village is car-free, so we drop you at the arrivals area; resort entry is covered. From there it’s a short transfer or ski to your lodge.

Good to know

Before you go

Chains & entry sorted

The alpine climb often requires chains. Your chauffeur carries and fits them, and resort entry is included in your tailored fare.

Car-free village

You can’t drive into the village itself, so we drop you at the arrivals point. Many lodges offer an over-snow transfer or are ski-in from there.

Great for families

Wide beginner terrain, ski schools and easy cross-country make Falls Creek one of the most approachable resorts for kids and first-timers.

A longer drive

At ~4.5 hours each way, Falls Creek suits a multi-day stay, though same-day returns are possible. Tell us your plan in the enquiry and we’ll advise.

Questions

Falls Creek FAQs

How long is the drive to Falls Creek?

Around four and a half hours each way from Melbourne via the Kiewa Valley and Mt Beauty. The final climb onto the high plains is an alpine road where chains may be fitted.

Why is Falls Creek enquiry-only instead of instant price?

The longer distance and alpine road mean timing, vehicle and trip style affect the fare more than for the closer resorts. A quick enquiry lets us give you an accurate all-inclusive quote for your exact plan.

How does drop-off work in a car-free village?

Vehicles can’t enter the village itself, so we drop you at the arrivals area at the village edge. From there many lodges offer an over-snow transfer, or you can ski in. Resort entry is included in your fare.

Is Falls Creek good for beginners and families?

Very much so — it has the widest beginner and intermediate terrain in Victoria, ski schools, and excellent cross-country. The ski-in/ski-out village is especially convenient with kids.

Can I do Falls Creek as a day trip?

It’s possible but a big day given the distance. Choose “same-day return” in the enquiry and tell us your preferred departure times from Melbourne and the mountain — we’ll build the timing around that.

What’s included in the quote?

Your tailored fare is all-inclusive: door-to-door transport, snow chains, resort entry, fuel and tolls, GST included. Lift passes, equipment hire and lessons are arranged separately with the resort.
