What makes it special

A full alpine village, close to home

Mt Buller is the most popular major snow resort for Melburnians — and it’s easy to see why. It pairs genuine downhill skiing and snowboarding across a large lift network with a lively pedestrian village full of restaurants, cafes, bars and accommodation.

There are runs for everyone: gentle beginner slopes and ski schools, plenty of intermediate cruising, and steeper black terrain for the confident. Off the snow, the village has the best après-ski scene in Victoria, so it works just as well for a social weekend as a day on the slopes.

Who it suits

Skiers and boarders of every level, groups and couples who want a proper alpine-village atmosphere, and anyone after the most complete Victorian snow experience within a manageable drive of Melbourne.

How to get there

Your route to Mt Buller

About three hours each way in a warm private vehicle. Cars stop at the village entrance; we drop you as close as the road allows.

1

Melbourne pickup

We collect you anywhere in metro Melbourne. For a day trip we usually recommend an early start to make first lifts and beat the traffic.

2

Northeast to Mansfield

We take the Hume and Maroondah highways up to the alpine town of Mansfield — a good spot for a quick stop before the climb.

3

The mountain road & chains

From Mirimbah we climb the winding alpine road to the village. Your chauffeur fits snow chains where conditions require — included in your fare.

4

Arrive at the village

We drop you at the village entrance; resort entry is covered in your fare. From there it’s a short step to the lifts, hire and your accommodation.

Good to know

Before you go

Chains & entry sorted

Alpine roads require chains in the declared season. Your chauffeur carries and fits them, and resort entry is included in your fare.

Lift passes & hire

Lift tickets, ski/board hire and lessons are booked with the resort and aren’t included in the transfer. We can point you to the right place.

Day trip or stay

Buller works as a long day trip (same-day return) or a multi-day stay. For an overnight, choose multi-day return and we’ll collect you on your chosen day.

What to bring

Warm waterproof layers, gloves, goggles and sun protection. We’ve got room for skis, boards and luggage — bring your own gear or hire at the village.

Questions

Mt Buller FAQs

How long does it take to drive to Mt Buller?

About three hours each way from central Melbourne, depending on traffic, weather and your pickup location. The final climb from Mirimbah to the village is a winding alpine road where chains may be fitted.

Can I do Mt Buller as a day trip?

Yes. Choose “same-day return” and your chauffeur stays on the mountain for the day (about 10 hours) and drives you home that evening — a great option if you don’t want to pay for accommodation.

Is there downhill skiing and snowboarding?

Yes — Mt Buller is Victoria’s largest resort with a big lift network and runs for beginners through to advanced, plus ski schools, terrain parks and a full village.

Are lift passes included in the transfer?

No. Your transfer fare covers transport, snow chains and resort entry. Lift tickets, equipment hire and lessons are booked separately with the resort.

Do you drop us right at the village?

We drop you as close as vehicles are allowed — the village is largely pedestrian, so we take you to the village entrance and drop-off zone. Resort entry is included in your fare.

Can you take a big group?

Yes — up to 11 in our Sprinter, or multiple vehicles for larger groups. Tell us your numbers and gear and we’ll size the right vehicle.
